Continues to Evolve

The latest version of DriveCam's
Video Event Recorder (VER), DC3P, began shipping in early August. The DC3P
provides enhancements to the DC3 VER including an onboard posted speed database,
wider angle lens and advanced analytic capabilities. As proven experts in the
science of safe and efficient driving, the introduction of posted speed
violations is an example of our commitment to continually enhance capabilities
to identify and correct risky driving behavior. |
Why is monitoring speed important?
- It saves fuel: Above 55 MPH, each 1 MPH increase in vehicle speed
decreases fuel consumption by 0.1 MPG.

This year, the Truckload
Carriers Association's (TCA) Safety & Security Division presented Jerry
Waddell, Safety Director for Cargo Transporters Inc., with its 2012 Safety
Professional of the Year Award. In addition, Ralph Benson, President of Sentinel Transportation LLC. was named Private Fleet Executive of the Year by the National
Private Truck Council (NPTC). |
The TCA's
Safety Professional of the Year Award, also known as the Clare C. Casey Award,
recognizes the honoree's excellence in promoting trucking safety programs and
procedures. Working in the trucking industry for almost four decades, Waddell
has dedicated more than 21 years to focusing on safety. He began working as a
driver in 1975 and moved into a safety position in 1991. In 1999, he joined
Cargo Transporters, Inc. as Safety Director; under his leadership, Cargo
Transporters has improved its year-over-year safety performance through
implementation of improved safety and loss prevention techniques and safety
technologies. One of the measures Waddell and Cargo Transporters have
implemented is the DriveCam solution.
The Private Fleet Executive of the Year,
NPTC's highest individual award, went to Ralph Benson, President of Sentinel
Transportation LLC. Benson was named President of Sentinel Transportation, LLC
in 2002. Under his direction, Sentinel provides a wide range of dedicated truck
transportation and related services for DuPont and ConocoPhillips. Prior to his
appointment to Sentinel, he spent 21 years with Conoco Inc., where he had
various operations, commercial, optimization, strategy, and finance assignments
in the transportation and marketing business units. Benson has served a member
of the NPTC Board of Directors and chaired its Annual Conference Planning
Committee for four years.
